I came across this tutorial (this is an old DIY - like from the forties and fifties) hoping it would give some curl to my otherwise straight hair. I tried it on a Sunday night .... a bit of a risk going into Monday - but boy did it ever make me excited for Monday morning to come :)
I used fabric strips, but you could just as easily use individual socks. Here's what my hair looked like after 20 or 30 minutes of rolling (it was kind of tough to get the hang of!)
It was pretty comfortable to sleep on, and in the morning, when I took them out.... RINGLETS!!!
I felt it was all a bit wild, so I decided to pin two sections of my hair up with bobby pins (one on either side) and softened up with a comb. Then, I was ready for work!
My coworkers all had positive things to say (good thing I work with nice people!). And my hubby even loved it - and he would tell me the truth ;)
I don't usually play around too much with my hair - but I'm glad I gave it a try!

very cute!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Very cute. I'm thankful to have naturally wavy hair so I can wear it straight or curly (well wavy, close enough). If I do nothing to it, wavy, if I add some gel or mousse and scrunch wavier, if I blow dry it straight, straight. It's fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteI love them! I have a friend who did that on her daughter and said it is way more comfortable to sleep on than curlers ;) I want to try now!! :) I linked up with Gussy and wrote about fall DIYs if you want to see!! gracefilledblog.com ~ Have a WONDERFUL Thursday! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! I am one of those people "blessed" with natural curls and it's funny because I keep thinking, "What I would give for straight, predictable hair." What you described about "crazy" after taking the fabric strips out is what I deal with every morning! LOL! I guess we all must learn to love what we have...:)
ReplyDeleteYour rockn' those curls Sarah....love how you tried something new. And you got curls without damaging your hair with heat...like I do. LOL..
ReplyDeleteFun!! I remember my mom putting rag rollers in my hair as a kid. Now I just use a curling iron.
