When we first moved here, we spent months looking for the perfect dining room table. Do you know where we found it (of all places!)?? COSTCO. Yes, Costco. We love it there, and we love our Costco table!
I had a lot of fun creating the art to hang above the table (check out my tutorial here):
And I've had my eye on some table runners for a while now:
What about you? Do you eat in your dining room?
When my kids were growing up, we ate in the kitchen and the dining room table was for Thanksgiving and Christmas or dinner guests. Now that the kitchen we have doesn't have an eat in area, we eat in the dining room. I actually like it there because I'm not looking at the messy kitchen while I eat!
ReplyDeleteWe eat at the dining table sometimes, but we are guilty of eating at the couch as well... I love the first table runner! So cute.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe eat in the dining room every night unless only a couple of us are at home, then we eat at the bar (as in home bar, not bar bar).
ReplyDeleteWe don't eat in the dining room much either...and it makes me feel better to know we're not the only ones who sit on the couch ;) In our apartment, we had an island with two stools and I loved eating in the kitchen, so much that I have convinced my husband to build a counter/bar in our current kitchen. I can't wait for it to be installed :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love that second table runner! Yes, we eat in our dining room and do it most of the time. It was just something that we decided we wanted to do intentionally ;) But we definitely have our moments of sitting in front of the tv!! No shame in that! :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't actually have a dining room. We have a kitchen table that is usually taken up by everything but us eating. We normally eat in the living room. I'm hoping for that to change when our little one arrives though :).
ReplyDeleteWe do eat in our dining room. We always have (mostly) but it became especially important when we had kids, to sit together every night as a family and share a meal.
ReplyDeleteIn our house the "official" dining room is our computer/spare room. We have two tables where we can eat. The kitchen table ((which is usually just for eating breakfast or a place to put cooking ingredients)) then there is the table in the pool room which we sometimes eat at, but usually it is in front of the tv. I have tried getting us to all eat at the table, but it is REALLY hard!! :(
ReplyDeleteHaha! That's where our mail goes too! I really like your dining room art.

We actually don't have a dining room! We have a kitchen attached to a large dinette area where everybody gathers, but no separate dining room - we had one in our old house and it never got used. We don't eat in front of the tv, though. With 3 young kids, that would pretty much spell disaster.;)
ReplyDeleteLove the French grains sack runner!!
ReplyDeleteWe actually turned out dining room into a sitting room/2nd living room. We call it the Frank room (Frank Sinatra) because my hubby & I usually hang out there after dinner, with a glass of wine...it's got great mid century furniture and we usually play Frank on our vintage record player.
Our kitchen is big enough for a large table, so it didn't make sense to have a dining room we'd only use a handful of times a year!
I don't really have a dining room as such, but the 'family room' is our dining room and my crafting room/TV room (there is another 'family room' upstairs for the kids, and an unused lounge room as well, as my DH lives in the study). We always eat around the big table in the family room if we are together. Of course other than meal times it may be covered with newspapers, or fabric, or books, but I religiously clear it (often by moving the stuff onto the floor!) for meals!
ReplyDeleteSo funny..we do actually! With a big bottle of wine between us. :) Then to the couch!
ReplyDeleteYou'll laugh but mostly the didnigroom gets used for time outs or separating fighting diners lol!!! Then there is Thanksgiving which we host so it does come in handy although we have an pen plan so it's a very usable space for projects and homework! Love that red runner and of course the burlap!
ReplyDelete...what the heck is a didnigroom??? hahahaha
ReplyDeletecute, cute, cute!
