Pampering Myself Around the World

When Gussy's inspiration workshop prompt was "pamper yourself", I thought sadly that my favorite things in this life are spread around the world. But then I thought: Can't I just pretend I could treat myself to all of it in one day? Why not?

I would start the day in Germany, and head out to my FAVORITE cafe for breakfast. I'd order a cup of black coffee and some "brotchen" (bread and various rolls) with butter and jam. I'd meet up with my best friend from high school there and we'd chat about how far we've all come...

For lunch, I'd head over to the Alsace region of France (where my parents still live today) and get some Tarte Flambee for lunch. Ohhhh, I can taste it now.

I would spend the afternoon with my husband on the beach - specifically Little Corona beach in Southern California where we used to live:

After grabbing some ice cream for dinner (hey, calories don't count on my pampering day!), we'd head back to the pond behind my in-laws' house in Michigan. We would sit around the fire and toast s'mores and talk about how good life is.

And, THAT, my friends, would be a day well-pampered!!

  11. Sounds like a wonderful day... spending time in the places that you love with people you love!

It sounds like your teaching position is very rewarding and challenging (all in one breath!) I taught first grade for years... I am now teaching second grade.

(And to answer your question how I do it all... I have no idea... I go about 180 miles an hour during the school year and slow way down during the summer... but its all worth it!)

  16. Oh my goodness, I love this! Your parents live in France? That is so cool! I live in France, near Lyon. Do you speak French? It is an amazing place, isn't it? And I love that you chose to have a pretend pamprering day. Sometimes that is just what we need, isn't it? Love your blog!
