Today is Super Journal

I've been having an uncharacteristic week, in that I've been doing lots of stuff. And well, frankly, I don't usually do a whole lot of stuff. Mostly just sit around and chill with my hubby.

But Max surprised me with really great tickets to see STOMP on Tuesday. I'd been wanting to see the show for the last ten years (it's item number one on my life list!) so I was very excited! The show did not disappoint: It was absolutely mind-blowingly awesome! If you ever get a chance to see it, you really should!

And as if that wasn't enough excitement for the month, we went and saw the Rangers play the Tigers last night. I know that we're probably supposed to cheer for the Rangers but since Max is from Michigan we were disappointed when the Tigers lost! Oh well, it was great fun to hang out with some friends and eat some ball park hot dogs.

Today I'm recuperating from all of the fun busy-ness and tomorrow I'm meeting up with some local bloggers at a Mexican restaurant nearby. YAY!

Pet parents

There were two things I wanted when I was little: a furry pet, and an older brother.

When I asked my mom, the answer was always "No" (and you can imagine that one of those answers was "No" with a giggle).

So when my husband and I had the opportunity to rescue three cats from being abandoned in the countryside, we jumped at the chance! Meet Mowgli, Mrs. Hufflepuff, and Gizmo (from left to right):

I never knew I could love pets so much - they all became my fur babies!

Sometimes, cats and crafting don't mix. I recently heard from Zoe about her cat Daisy who ingested sewing machine thread. Daisy is in critical condition, and Zoe is attempting to raise funds for her surgery through a big giveaway. I'll be contributing a gift certificate to my shop, and you can learn how to enter over here.

Anyone who has a pet knows firsthand how much a part of the family they become, how near and dear to your heart they are. Let's rally around Zoe and Daisy!!

What's on my heart today is that there's nothing like being a teacher!

The fun little projects

The excuse to do some cooking

The hands on learning

But more than all of that, I'm glad that I have a job with a clear beginning and ending. Because truthfully? I would be incapable of being a good teacher if I didn't have the summer to recuperate.

And it's hard to talk about having the whole summer off when I'm around people that have "real" jobs. I feel guilty. I avoid the subject. I don't brag about the awesome places I get to go or the fun stuff I get to do, because I don't want to make anyone feel bad!

But today, in honor of sharing what's on my heart, I just want to say.... it's the last day of the school year and I am EXCITED for all of my summer fun to begin!!!

Bookworm

When I was younger, my dad used to say that if I need three things to survive: food, water, and a library. It's true. I love to read! The smell of a book's pages is like some sort of drug to me.... a healthy addiction, to be sure.

Unfortunately, when I pick up a book I get engrossed to the detriment of everything else. Housework? Ignored. Going to work to teach? An irritating distraction. Eating? Later. Because of this, I try to save my reading for the summer months when I have far fewer responsibilities.

Over spring break, I read Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant and enjoyed it thoroughly. And now, I'm on the hunt for summer reading recommendations!
