Baby Bumpdate: 36 weeks

I can't believe that I'm officially nine months pregnant!

This week, in addition to working on the nursery, I've also been reading some baby books:

The authors lay out all of the options in a completely unbiased way. And it's an easy read!

To encourage me to at least get out of my pajamas once the baby is here!

For the educator in me....

So I know what's normal, and when to freak out.

Can you think of any books I should have at my disposal? Do share!

  1. I got Knack Baby's First Year: A Complete Illustrated Guide for Your Child's First Twelve Months. I thought it was really helpful. Here's the Amazon link (http://www.amazon.com/Knack-Babys-First-Year-Illustrated/dp/B003JTHURK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1338983461&sr=8-3). Best of luck! :-)

  5. I think you've got a great assortment!! I love that last one, it's a very informative book.

Make sure you've got some great little books to read to baby too - I loved reading to my boys, right from when they were newborns. :-)

    Oh...so exciting!!!

  6. I think the Happiest Baby on the Block is a good book by Dr. Harvey Karp. I didn't end up starting it until Zoe was out of the stage he's talking about but I think it would be helpful for the next little one :)

  9. You are so adorable! You wear pregnancy really, really well. Getting so excited for you!! I have used The Baby Book by Dr. Sears a whole heck of a lot. I actually referrenced quite a few of their books (The Birth Book, The Breastfeeding Book, The Vaccine Book) and found them all super helpful. They come from a more laid back place which helped me stay calm about things.

  12. I think it's so great that you are using your free time to do some reading to better prepare yourself. Even though one cannot truly prepare for all the trials, tribulations, and joy a child brings, it's good to feel mentally prepared and to have some idea how to mix studied material with instinct! You're going to be a great mom!

  14. you look so adorable!! :)
my favorite book/cd is called Childbirth in the Glory. It really helped me in my last labor. It focuses on directed prayers/declarations for your pregnancy/labor. I loved it!

  15. yeah for 36 weeks!!! You look AMAZING!!!

if your interested in sleep training (it isn't for everyone, especially if you opt for co-sleeping ) 12 hours by 12 weeks is a great book for that! Mine were sleeping through the night @ 12 weeks, 10 weeks, & 11 weeks.

  16. Along with all the Mommy prep books, make sure you have some good reading for yourself once baby arrives. You spend a lot of time nursing, and a good book can be handy (along with a water bottle---never sit down to nurse without some sort of liquid within reach or a husband within call to fetch some). I was reading Middlemarch aloud to William and Brönte's Villette to David. It was fun for me and something besides baby talk for them to listen to. With the first baby it is sometimes hard to find things to talk about to them without resorting to talking to yourself. The second one will pick up language as you answer your toddler's hundred and one "why" questions.

  17. If you plan on breastfeeding, The Womanly Art of Breasfeeding by the La Lache League was super useful to me. My husband called it my Bible for the first few weeks.

  18. I just found your blog via Rebekah's. Nice to see you again.
I've used these two for each of our 4 kids. They are very helpful.
    1. The Mom's on Call Guide to Basic Baby Care: The first 6 months. Laura Hunter & Jennifer Walker
(This book is a small, but great reference guide for how to get baby to sleep, sicknesses to deal with at home, sickness to call the dr about, what a day in the life of a baby could look like, etc. It is very helpful. It also comes with a DVD for swaddling, etc)
    2. What to Expect the First Year. (This book has milestones that have always helped me know that our baby was normal.)
